I stayed at this wonderful place called Bass Harbor Gables. It is on the quiet side of the island. It is very beautiful and gives you the feel of Maine island living. This is the main house. The best part is that pets are welcome! I also met 2 of my neighbors and they were very cool. One was a photographer and this is her web site: http://gonetothedogs.smugmug.com/She photographs birds, dogs and maine! I bought one of her photographs at a store in town.
I didn't stay in the main house. Patsy and I stayed in the cottage. It was perfect. In the morning Patsy and I would watch the birds from the front porch.
