Wildlife

This picture didn't come out very good. I saw this Bald Eagle at least three times in the same place. He sat in the tree near the Somes Sound Footbridge. I saw him as I was driving by in my car, he was that huge. Apparently it was a good place for hunting with those spawning fish and this little guy below.
I was so happy to see the eagle and then right below him in the water was this otter. He was so cute. I wonder if he knew the eagle was eyeballing him!

Osprey nest with Osprey in it on one of my cruises

I visited this place called Bird's Acre. They take care of injured wildlife who can't survive in the wild. They also had really nice walking trails with a boardwalk.

Sieur De Monts Spring

This area was so pretty.
Just taking a nice walk through the birch forest.

These stone steps kicked my butt, but Patsy loved it, she was like, let's go!

Patsy never let up a chance at a good look out.

Vermin Hunter

Patsy chased a chipmunk down this hole. If he comes back up, he is dead meat!

Somes Sound Footbridge

This is a pretty famous bridge in Somes Sound, the first town on Mt Desert Island.

I don't know if you can see them, but there are hundreds of fish in this pond spawning. They apparently jump upstream to get here. Wonder what kind of fish they are? I was quite surprised to see them all in there!

Off leash dog area on Mount Desert Island

This is privately owned land and the owners allow dogs off leash here. Not bad at all, Patsy liked it! There is fresh water for drinking and swimming too.

Just your average boat house at the dog park

Cruise around Frenchman Bay

Patsy loves boats and the the water
I could totally live there

Harbor Seals, they were funny to watch. They can barely move their blubbery bodies on land! Apparently they are safer from sharks in the water because they can swim faster. But on land a shark can just grab 'em if they are close enough to the water.

Sand beach. I'm sure the water is still cold as heck even in august.

Bar Harbor and Frenchman Bay

I love a nice lobster boat

I don't know what in the heck that guy is doing up there, but it is high up!

They call this the ugliest lighthouse in Maine. I don't think it's too bad.

I love the Maine coastline

Summit of Cadillac Mountain, the highest peak on Mount Desert Island

I felt a little scared driving up to this peak. You could totally drive off the side of a cliff. But I was told it's nothing compared to driving up Mt Washington

Otter Cliffs and Cobble Stone Beach

There is a walking path all along these cliffs, great walk

Beach Cobbles, what they make cobblestone streets with. This will be a sand beach in a few hundred years but we'll all be dead

Maine's Pink Granite Coastline

Bass Harbor Head Light

This lighthouse was in the town where I stayed. It is a beautiful lighthouse surrounded by pink granite. I saw bald eagles flying overhead when I visited here, wow.
